04 August 2026
The City of Cape Town invites residents, businesses and the public to an information session on the planned upgrade of the Nyanga Public Transport Interchange (PTI). Join City officials from 14:00 to 18:00 on Thursday, 6 August 2026, at the Zolani Community Centre to learn more about the project, view the plans and find out about potential job opportunities.
'The upgrade of the Nyanga PTI will make the facility safer, easier to use and more efficient for residents and public transport users. The project includes new buildings and roofing, improved roads, upgraded taxi facilities, new toilets, formal trading containers, and more and is an example to the Nyanga community of our commitment to keep Cape Town moving, with dignity,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
The public information session will be held on:
-
Date: Thursday, 6 August 2026
-
Time: 14:00 until 18:00
-
Venue: Zolani Community Centre, Corner of Great Dutch Street and Sithandatu Avenue, Nyanga
Visitors can learn about the project, the construction timeline, and how to register for subcontracting opportunities and the City's Jobseeker Database. Jobseekers must bring a valid ID or certified copy, and proof of address.
'I encourage residents and businesses to visit us at the Zolani Community Centre on Thursday. You can arrive at any time between 14:00 and 18:00. City officials will be available to answer questions, explain the project and discuss upcoming work in the area,' said Councillor Quintas.
The upgrade will also include a new traffic circle, better lighting, landscaping, improved stormwater infrastructure, safer roads and walkways, new fencing and security, and office space for taxi associations.
While construction is under way, a temporary transport facility will be built behind the Zolani Community Centre. It will provide space for buses, minibus taxis, traders, offices, toilets, security and pedestrian walkways. Once the project is complete, the sports grounds will be restored with new grass and AstroTurf.
